So this weekend I am off with a group of great runner friends to race the Lake Placid Half! Lake Placid is one of my favorite places to visit. It is so beautiful there. A few weeks back I previewed the course in preparation for what was coming. It is so gorgeous. However, as excited as I am to head back for the race I think this race will be a very humbling experience. With my Plantar Fasciitis rearing its ugly head I am worried about my pace AND if I will ever be able to finish. Lake Placid is very hilly and that is exactly what the doctor did NOT order. This may be just what I need though - to run a race not for time but for the pure love of running and to take in the sights and sounds of the location I am in. Not every race can be a PR and I have only been lucky that so far mine have. This is not something that will happen with each race. It is rough going to the start line knowing I am not going to push myself but just get it done. Either way I am happy to even go to the start line! Lets hope this foot holds out!!! Ahhhh! |
