After getting a PR at the Lake Effect I wasn't too sure I could pull off another. This course was changed from the year before and it had more hills than the flat fast Lake Effect course. Of course, being here in Syracuse, it was freezing too. I was running late to the start line and ended up fitting in too close to the front. I didn't really notice I was keeping up pretty well with the pace until I got to mile 10. Luckily that's when I ran into Laurel, Jared's sister, and she ran a bit with me and told my Jared was in first so far. That gave me a jolt to get to the finish. I crossed the finish with no one there to cheer for me. I went to get a coffee and there was Jared. I was 6 mins early - 1h 49 mins. He thought he had time to see me finish. I did better than the last race and he won :)
